Lerm was speaking after both the Eagles and the EP Kings failed to deviate the class quo in the Currie Cup by staying in the First Division. The Eagles beat the Leopards 32-28,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but it wasn't enough to go through, while the Kings couldn't build on an astep draw last week by losing 46-28 to the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"Maybe we shouldn't play semifinals and finals when we fulfill our league games in the First Division," he said. "The league earnner should win the division, so that we get a week's interval before we play the qualifiers. With the semifinal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the final and the two qualifiers, we're now playing four finals in four weeks."
Kings pdweller Cheeky Watson had similar sentiments, saying what they had started in the region would simply have to carry on next year.
But Lerm accepted the outcome, even though it meant the Leopards - who have won just one of their last 28 matchs in the Premier Division - somehow obtain to keep their elite status. "That's the system, if they beat us we were going to stay down."
