Like a vintage wine, Adam is still continuing to improve with age
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] hit the ground shoving last week, putting his shoulder straight to the wheel and walking off with a man-of-the- match award in his first full game of the season.
Aironi rolled up at the Liberty with an international loose-head in their ranks, but [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] exerted pressure on 73-cap former Toulouse prop Salvatore Perugini all game.
Who needs time to get back up to speed after the exertions of a summer tour with Wales?
Evidently not [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whose scrummaging with Paul James and Richard Hibbard was one of the big pluses in the 38-6 win over the Italians.
At 29, Wales's most capped tight-head of all time is at the peak of his powers, a player who has improved with every season and underlined his worth in the summer by taking the verdict over New Zealand's world-rated Tony Woodcock, a prop who had previously been his nemesis.
"In the first half of the opening Test we dominated the scrums, then Woodcock came off the bench and a few decisions went against us, which I wasn't particularly happy with," said [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"But we worked really hard ahead of the second Test and did quite well.
Tough
"We scrummed as an eight and did get the upper hand, which was good for me personally because I've always had a tough time against those props.
"It was pleasing and showed we're going in the right direction as a pack."
Tonight [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] will be up against the Scarlets' Iestyn Thomas, a prop he has a lot of time for.
That was evident at the media call in Llanelli this week.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] has been around long enough to know pre-game press conferences can turn into episodes of mutual back-slapping, especially when they bring together players and coaches from both teams, as was the case with the Scarlets and Ospreys this week.
Unlike in boxing, those involved often try to kill each other with kindness, anxious as they are about giving the opposition a psychological edge.
But when [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] spoke about former Wales loose-head Thomas his words were laced with genuine respect.
"Iestyn is one of the best scrummagers in Britain, if not European rugby," said the Lions Test star.
"I haven't seen anybody give him a bad time.
"He always holds his own, even in a struggling pack.
"He is one of the few people who has consistently given John Hayes a real outing.
"I have a lot of time for Iestyn because he took me under his wing when I was first called up to the Wales squad."
Veteran
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is a veteran of West Wales regional derbies, having played in 12 of them since Welsh rugby's landscape changed in 2003.
The Ospreys are looking to achieve a record fifth win in a row in the fixture, but the Scarlets will take the field with confidence boosted after a bright start to the season.
"These are always big games,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"Players want to play in them and the way the fans get after each other and on players' backs just adds to it all.
"The game is always the talk of both regions in the week building up to the match.
"I enjoy playing in them.
Atmospheres
"When you figure in front of 15,000 at Parc y Scarlets on Boxing Day, or in front of 20,000 at the Liberty, these games are pretty big occasions with great atmospheres."
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] believes the Ospreys need to move up a level after an uneven start to the season.
"We have a good enough squad now to have started the season better," he said.
"We have been disappointed with ourselves, but tonight is the perfect game to get back into things.
"People always say you can write off the first few months of any season with the Ospreys
"I don't want that — I want to be firing from the start because we have now have the players and the squad to do that.
"This is the ideal game to kick-start our season."
